Benefit Instant Brow Pencil is an absolute disappointment, and a very inferior product at the price it is being sold at. You will not go wrong giving this product a miss. Here’s why!
4 Reasons why you should Skip Benefit Instant Brow Pencil
1. A Real Big Hassle
I’ve never needed to sharpen a pencil-based product this often. I almost need to sharpen Benefit Instant Brow Pencil every other application and it is really a big pain in the ‘S’.
Imagine you get only 15 minutes to prepare for work, and when you pick up an eyebrow pencil, the tip is so blunt you can hardly use it without scraping your brows with the rough wood edges.
“Didn’t I just sharpen it 2 days ago?”, you thought.
Indeed you did. But this is what this product requires from you. Dedication!
The reality is that you will very likely switch to your other brow pencils, giving this a miss until the next time, when you find you have more time to dedicate to ‘pencil-sharpening’ chores. That ‘next time’ may be many weeks or months later.
2. Not Value-for-Money
Because of how frequent this needs to be sharpened, it is not difficult to guess how fast Benefit Instant Brow Pencil runs out. My pencil is so short even though I hardly use it (due to the hassle).
You can tell from the print on the pencil that I hardly use it. The print is in mint condition and no fading has taken place.
It’s definitely not a good investment, considering how expensive this thing costs. I vaguely remember it was retailing at more than S$35.
3. Color is too Light
After going through a consultation, the retail assistant recommended Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in the shade of ‘Light’. I’d trusted her recommendation as most Benefit Counters (including this one) have a brow bar, which is supposedly staffed with licensed professionals who are highly trained in the art of brow shaping. So I bought it.
Given that this is not a cheap product, I am disappointed to find out later that the color is a tad too light for me under normal lighting. It’s even worse at night.
4. Brows are not defined
I’m not sure if it’s due to the shade that’s too light, or the texture that’s too soft, it is impossible to achieve a defined brow. This is probably better suited for those who want a really natural look.
Despite the above serious flaws, this pencil does provide a smooth application. It may be suitable for beginners as Benefit Instant Brow Pencil is very forgiving and doesn’t over-deposit the pigments. You can run it over a few times and still won’t get the ‘Harsh-brow’ look.
All in all, I do not recommend this brow pencil as it is just too much a hassle for daily use, and not forgetting its high cost. Rating: 1/5
