Happy Lunar New Year, folks! Today, I’ve got a great beauty product to recommend – Etude Better Lips-Talk. You’ll love this lipstick if you like obvious colour on your lips and want a lipstick that is moisturising and not matte.
Read on to find out why this Korean lipstick receives a high rating of 4.5/5.
More about Etude Better Lips-Talk Lipstick
To be honest, I’m hardly a fan of Etude House except for its eye shadows. Maybe I’m out of their target age group and am no longer attracted to its girly packaging. :) However, one day a few months ago, I heard about a closing down sale at Wisma Atria (Singapore) and went to load up lots of stuff that I would normally not buy.
One of them – Etude Better Lips-Talk turned out to be a great buy. Now, you may like to know that this lipstick comes in two finishes – Regular and Velvet. The sales assistant highly promoted the velvet variation, because velvet means matte and matte was so in! But my dry lips never have a good track record with matte lipsticks.
I thought long and hard, and ultimately insisted on the Regular version. And thank god I did, as Regular Etude Better Lips-Talk is indeed not a matte lipstick. This lipstick is said to provide “long-lasting vivid colors and a gorgeous hydro-shine for the lips”.
What’s Great about Etude Better Lips-Talk?
1. Vivid Colour with a Lovely Finish
Indeed, Etude Better Lips-Talk offers very vivid colour. It’s so vivid I don’t use it very often due to my personal preference for barely-there makeup. But when I do remember to use it, I like the colour which was flattering to my skin tone and looks demure and sweet. I also love the soft-shine finish.
Here’s the colour I’ve chosen – PK006 Sweet Soda. Told ya, it’s sweet! :)
2. Comfortable on Dry Lips
I’ve tried this lipstick a couple of times and didn’t experience any discomfort. In fact, the lips feel moisturised and slightly greasy. LOL!

3. Color that Lasts
One thing that I love about Etude Better Lips-Talk is how lasting the colour is. Even after a greasy meal, there would be some colour left on the lips, which is great for someone who hardly touches up on makeup. But I was initially wary because my lips do not normally take well to staining lipstick.

Luckily, Etude Better Lips-Talk didn’t result in noticeable discomfort to my lips. In fact, with its staining effect, it makes a great lipstick to use under mask.
4. Great Packaging
Another thing that made Etude Better Lips-Talk stand out is its excellent packaging. Not only is the case attractive, it is also extremely functional. The lipstick is a combination of a rubbery bottom for better hold and a golden lid that exudes elegance. What’s more, the lid snaps and closes swiftly with its magnetic close feature.
And if that’s not enough, Etude also offers engraving service. So yes, you can have your name etched on the golden lid, though I’m not sure if they still offer the service.
5. Reasonably-priced
Last but not least, let’s talk about its price. At $18.90, Etude lipstick is probably not the cheapest Korean or drug-store lipstick out there, say as compared to Cezanne or Chifure. But it is not very far off from the price of Maybelline or Revlon.
Catch it during a sales like I did or check out online prices for better deals. For instance, Amazon is selling it at a lower price as at time of writing.
What’s not to like about Etude Better Lips-Talk?
1. Colour may be too vivid for some
I love the colour…I really do. But as I’ve said, I find myself not using it as often as I wish due to my personal preference for subtle lip colours. This is subjective and you may be perfectly fine with vivid colours.
Actually, the colour is not extremely loud or difficult to line like some other bold lipsticks. I just need to remind myself to be a little more adventurous with colours. LOL!
2. It’s perfumed!
The lipstick has an obvious scent which I don’t love but can live with. If you have sensitive lips, you may be concerned over fragranced and staining lipstick.
Should you get Etude House Better Lips-Talk Lipstick?
You would love Etude House Better Lips-Talk if you are looking for a lipstick that is non-drying, offers obvious colour and has a soft-shine. I also like how lasting the colour is which is really useful for people who are lazy to touch up on makeup (me!). Oh and not to forget, the elegant case makes this a presentable lipstick to bring around everywhere you go. Rating: 4.5/5
