Favorite Face Powder | Benefit Hello Flawless Powder

Hey babes, are you ready for some great stuff?  How about a powder that hides imperfections impeccably? Seriously, I doubt I’ll be able to find another powder that can outdo Benefit ‘Hello Flawless!’ Powder.

This SPF 15 Benefit ‘Hello Flawless!’ Powder comes in a retro-looking squarish case. Its magnetic-close mechanism makes it a breeze to open and close the case. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to find so much stuff hidden within the compact case. Just flip the pan of powder to unveil the brush and sponge applicators. 

Other than the lovely case which is super easy to use, there are other great things about this powder that made it my favorite powder of the moment. See the empty case above? FYI, I hardly ever finish a single beauty product before moving on to the next. This is an exception than the norm.

I even bought their mini-kit that comes with the same powder (see item 4).

6 Reasons for Loving Benefit ‘Hello Flawless!’ Powder

1. Truly Customizable Powder

My arduous journey towards finding a decent pressed powder led me to Benefit counter.  The beauty advisor recommended this product and told me I could use this as either a foundation or a pressed powder.

I was intrigued yet skeptical at the same time. Really? A dual-purpose powder? Will it end up being a jack of all trades and master of none?

Still, I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. Benefit ‘Hello Flawless’! Powder is so silky and buildable you can achieve sheer to full coverage effortlessly. 

Sweep your face with the black brush if you want a sheer finish. For medium to full coverage, use the sponge that comes with the case.

2. Flawless Coverage

I use this powder mostly as a pressed powder. It sits well on my foundation and conceals my pores perfectly. Benefit ‘Hello Flawless!’ Powder delivers a matt-dewy finish that makes you look healthy and naturally-glowy.

It blends well with my foundation (various brands) and doesn’t look like an obvious layer over it.

3. Natural Finish

Looking perfect doesn’t mean you have to look heavily made-up.  Be it one layer or multiple layers, I was able to achieve a natural finish with this powder. Can I emphasize again that this powder-product gives an extremely natural look? God, how did they do it? This is such a great contrast from Lancome’s Teint Miracle pressed powder that I was using. 

Ever since I entered my 30s, I have switched from powder to liquid foundation as fine lines are easily highlighted by powder. Not anymore! There’s no creasing or cakey finish. In fact, I was astounded to discover that I could once again use powder foundation.

Benefit ‘Hello Flawless!’ Powder is non-drying. In fact, I might even think this is hydrating though I couldn’t find any scientific backing on this except that it claims to be suitable for all skin types (including dry skin, yah?).  

If you can still see some faint imperfections in the collage above, that’s because I’ve used this powder very lightly, applying it with the brush instead of the sponge.  

4. Doesn’t Clog Pores

I remembered asking the advisor if this is non-comedogenic. She wasn’t sure.

After emptying the powder, perhaps I can confidently share that this doesn’t clog my pores. And mind you, I do get blemishes easily with the wrong products.

Another great news, isn’t it?

5. Perfect Shade

Benefit ‘Hello Flawless!’ Powder comes in 9 shades although your local market may carry only selected colors. Thankfully, the lightest “I love me” Ivory shade suits me perfectly.

Now, if I use this as a foundation instead of a pressed powder, the color may appear slightly fairer during application. This may be due to the heavier use of the powder. The good news is that within a short while (less than an hour), the color would even out to match my skin tone.

6. Great for Travelling

This powder is great for travelling. Skip your liquid foundation, pressed powder, loose powder, sponge and brush. Just carry this and you are good to go. As I’ve said earlier, this is the only powder foundation that I can use that gives me a great natural finish and coverage.

What’s not so Great?

I have only one complaint.  Benefit ‘Hello Flawless!’ Powder contains only 7g of powder which is on the low side as compared to industry average of about 10 -12g.

It empties quite fast especially if you use it as a foundation. And this is the sole reason why this is not on my Holy Grail list yet, especially so when this is not exactly cheap (vaguely remember it to be above SGD50).

But to be honest, I’ve since purchased three pressed powder from varying brands and none works as well as Benefit.
