Review: PURITO Centella Buffet Serum Works like A Charm to Protect & Nourish Your Skin

I’ve been testing a few skincare products recently but haven’t found one that I truly love until I started using PURITO Centella Green Level Buffet Serum. This product instantly soothed my dehydrated and irritated skin and healed it within two days.

What’s PURITO Skincare? 

PURITO is a young skincare brand from South Korea that focuses on the use of “honest” ingredients. Sounds aligned to what we do here, doesn’t it? That is, to produce 100% honest reviews. :)

Okay, so what does “honest ingredients” really mean? 

Based on my understanding, it means ingredients that truly work and are safe to the skin. PURITO’s skincare products are said to be free from paraben, ethanol, PEG, Phthalate, silicone and synthetic fragrance.

To those who are concerned, PURITO’s products are also said to be vegan-free and cruelty-free. Other than not testing the products on animals, I was happy to learn that a portion of PURITO’s proceeds is made to the Best Friend Animal Society.

Another of PURITO’s brand philosophies is to dedicate its resources into giving us high-quality ingredients than to spend them on heavy marketing, fancy packaging and gimmicks. Real and lasting results gained over a longer-term use are also favored upon over dramatic short-term and temporary gains.

Purito has a range of products focusing on either anti-aging, brightening or in this instance calming for their “Centella” product line (green packaging).

The products under the Centella line contains a high percentage of Centella Asiatica. I did my research online and found that this ingredient is a herb commonly used to treat various disorders and minor wounds. Another website said that Centella Asiatica has demonstrated potent antioxidant properties and is able to hydrate well to sooth upset or compromised skin.

What does PURITO Centella Buffet Serum Promise? 

PURITO Centella Green Level Buffet Serum is described as a “nutritional serum that protects the skin from the outer environment by soothing the skin and enhancing the reinforcement of the skin barrier.”

Containing four peptides, PURITO Centella serum is also said to improve wrinkles over long-term use.

All in all, PURITO promises the following:

• Protect the skin
• Soothe the skin
• Strengthen the skin barrier
• Improve wrinkles over time

Let’s take a deeper examination of this serum based on my usage experience. I’ll start off with the pros before moving on to the cons and final recommendation.

What’s Great about Purito Centella Buffet Serum?

1. Easy Application that Simplifies Life

PURITO Centella Green Level Buffet Serum comes in a pump bottle which makes it both hygienic and convenient for use. One pump is sufficient per use, although I tend to apply two pumps liberally over my face, neck and decolletage.

Unlike other serums that come in a dropper, PURITO is truly hassle-free. You don’t have to twist open the cap, pick up the dropper or worry about drippage. Just an easy pump, and you are good to go. Having a busy work-life, I’ve always appreciated products that simplify life.

By the way, I love the serum’s faint, herbal and somewhat minty scent. This is the scent of nature because PURITO doesn’t use synthetic fragrance, remember?

2. Grease-free and Comfortable Feel

This clear serum is thicker than some other serums in the market, but absorbs quickly leaving behind a non-greasy and comfortable feel. The slight stickiness, if any, would be gone within a minute or so.

What you’ll get thereafter is a perfectly-balanced skin that feels like bare skin, but without the tightness. I’m honestly loving the grease-free after-feel and have been reaching out for it day and night (and also before a jog).

3. Instantly Soothes Irritated Skin

On one particular night, I started using a new tube of facial wash. Immediately after application, my skin felt so tight it was uncomfortable. I also found myself constantly licking my lips and I knew by then that the facial foam was too harsh for my skin.

Coincidentally, that was the week when I received PURITO’s press samples. So, I took out the Centella Green Level Buffet Serum and applied it over the irritated skin (in case you wonder, I wasn’t obliged to write a review in exchange for the press samples).  

I immediately felt a sense of relief – no more tightness and discomfort. The calming effects came so quickly it surprised me and also allowed me to form a quick and conclusive opinion of PURITO Centella Serum. And that is, this is a good calming serum.

4. Effectively Hydrates the Skin 

I continued to test the serum over the next couple of weeks – using it every single day. To conduct a proper review, I’d intentionally used PURITO Centella Buffet Serum alone, without layering it with other skincare products such as toner or moisturizer.

Even with this incomplete skincare routine, I was able to achieve sufficient hydration for my skin. When the thick serum absorbs, it seems to form a nice and invisible protective shield over the face. As such, I didn’t feel an immediate need to return to a complete skincare routine.

I was especially amazed that the dry patches on the side of my cheeks and jawline healed within 2 days. Here’s another raw note from my beauty diary:

5. Safe on My Pimple-Prone Skin

I am very confident that PURITO Centella Buffet Serum is pimple-safe on my skin. I’ve used it day and night and even re-apply it just before a jog. Yes, even when my pores went through expansion and contraction during and after an intensive cardio workout, I’ve managed to stay pimple-free throughout the trial period.

In fact, this is my go-to pre-jogging serum – one that I can use without any worries.

Exercise Skincare Routine: I’ll always remove my makeup and do a double cleanse before exercising. In the past, I didn’t dare apply any moisturizer just before a jog as I was afraid it would clog my pores.

I’m imagining that my pores would expand during the jog and contract when I stop and cool myself down in a nearby air-conditioned grocery store. Leaving the skin bare isn’t a good practice as the wind element would cause further skin tightness and discomfort.

Well, with my hands now on PURITO Centella Serum, my fear is gone. So far, I’ve never failed to apply the serum just before a jog. So, yes, I actually use this serum 3 times daily on most days.

7. Good & Safe Ingredients

We’ve earlier said how PURITO uses “honest” ingredients. To recap, all products are free from paraben, ethanol, PEG, Phthalate, silicone and synthetic fragrance.

PURITO Centella Buffet Serum is also 100% EWG Green Level Certified. In layman’s terms, this means that the serum is free from harmful chemicals. You can see the certified verification here.

8. Attractive & Eco-Friendly Packaging

My first intimate encounter with PURITO Buffet Serum was during the photoshoot (yes, I always take photos of my products before using them – see how I work here).

I held the bottle in my hand under the sun and was immediately drawn to its simple and yet sleek and tasteful design.

The frosted-green bottle reminded me of how safe and natural the ingredients are. The bottle feels sturdy and well-made, without excessive weight added for packaging/aesthetics purpose. The embossed white prints on the bottle aren’t those that would come off after a few use (I’m thinking of Lancome’s foundation when typing this).

And then when I was photographing the recycled paper packaging, I found some hidden treasures and scripts. LOL! Ah! That’s really interesting.

Eco-Friendly: PURITO donates a portion of their profits to the KFEM (Korean Federation For Environmental Movement).

What’s Not Great about Purito Centella Serum? 

1. Don’t Expect Overnight Wrinkle-Reduction

One of the claims of this product is how it’s able to improve wrinkles. I have seen how good PURITO Centella Buffet Serum is in terms of protecting, soothing and hydrating the skin. And therefore, it’s right to say that this serum does plump up the skin.

The key ingredient – Centella asiatica – is also known to contain antioxidant and amino acids, which have been scientifically shown to slow down damages to cells. And therefore, overtime, this serum should slow down the effect of aging, although I’m not sure if it would be visible since we continue to age every second.

If you are expecting your wrinkles to go away quickly, I’m afraid even the most expensive serum in the market would struggle to achieve that. If wrinkle removal is your main concern, you may have to explore more invasive medical procedures. :)

I love how comfortable PURITO Green Level Centella Buffet Serum feels on my skin and how it’s protecting my skin from the elements. I also appreciate that it’s pimple-safe and how I can apply it just before a jog and not have to worry about clogged pores.
