About Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream

Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream was an impulse purchase that I made at Singapore Changi Airport, just before departure. As I was heading to a beach island, the word “water-resistant” and “long-lasting” printed on the product label appealed to me. I had to get it.

Innisfree offers at least 8 different types of sunscreen products. The one I’m reviewing is “Long-Lasting” and meant for “Oily Skin”. Not that I have oily skin anymore – it just happened that this was the only range available at the airport then. When my impulse came knocking on the door, I just have to get anything even if it was for a different skin type. ;)

This product is formulated with sunflower oil and Jeju green tea extract. Although the label stated that it is water-resistant, its website gave it an even stronger claim of “having a water-proofing effect”.

As we all know, a water-resistant jacket can withstand light drizzle but would get wet if it stayed under rainy condition for too long. A water-proof jacket on the other hand would keep you dry no matter how long you stayed in the rain or how heavy that rain was. So, Innisfree was making a HUGE claim on her website!

It further claims that the formula can:

“…prevent your skin from getting greasy with sweat and sebum during your outdoor activities.”

Let’s see how well Innisfree lives up to her claims.

5 Reasons to Fall in Love with Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream?

1. No Pimples

Most sunscreen products break me out. So getting one that won’t clog pores is a primary priority for me. Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream has been tested extensively under different climate conditions and did not trigger any pimple breakout in my experience. I’ve used it under hot island temperature or deep under water and sometimes under quick-varying temperatures. My skin stayed pimple-free throughout. So I give this a big thumbs-up!

2. Long-lasting & Water-Resistant

I used to love water-based UV gel which feels light and refreshing. However, these UV gel won’t survive for long if you carry out perspiration-inducing activities or worse, go into the water.

That’s when cream-based sunscreen, such as Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream comes into the picture. I’ve just tested it under running water and the UV cream remained 100% intact, but the water-based UV gel was gone even though there was no physical contact (such as rubbing).

Did you know? All sunscreen products should be treated as cosmetics and removed using proper makeup remover.

3. Effective UV Protection

At SPF50+ and PA+++, Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream offers sufficient protection against UVA and UVB rays. I’ve worn it to island-hopping tours that lasted for 8 hours a day (and I went on consecutive days) and did not get any sunburn. It is important to declare that I was extremely fervent in reapplying sunblocks whenever I had a chance to do so, such as in between island destinations.

4. A Balanced Texture

I hesitated for a long time when purchasing this sunscreen that was meant for oily skin because I no longer own an oily face. Most products meant for oily skin tend to be light-weight and fast-drying/absorbing and typically contain alcohol. While it may be easily tolerated by those with oily skin, I was afraid this sunblock would further aggravate my normal/dehydrated skin.

Surprising, it’s a thick cream!

To my surprise,  Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream applies like a thick cream and left behind a film that felt as moisturizing as I would when wearing a day cream. It wasn’t a matt-dry look that I was expecting. Neither was it greasy. It just felt like how your face would be when you just-woke-up (with natural sebum).

5. Great Value

This light-weight tube cost only S$22 in retail store and cheaper on amazon. I probably got it at an even lower price at DFS Changi Airport. What’s more, Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream comes with 50ml, higher than the market norm of 30ml for facial sunscreen products.

What’s Bad?

1. Not for Everyday Use

Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream is not what I would reach out for on normal days. As I live in a hot and humid country, I prefer sunscreen that feels lighter to the touch for my everyday use.  This is especially so when I do layer on quite a few products in my morning beauty regimen.

Nevertheless, this remains as my holy grail sunscreen for outdoor/water activities or when I think I would be under the sun for an extended period. In fact, I’m now very confident in Innisfree’s sunscreen products and will look for one that would suit everyday use.

2. Any White-Cast?

If Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream leaves behind a white cast, it probably isn’t very obvious. I couldn’t see it with my naked eyes and only noticed a paler face when I looked through my photos (due to light-reflecting ability of physical sunscreen).

This paler face isn’t the ghastly type. It was actually quite flattering, as if I was wearing some light foundation.

Recommendation: Who should use Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream?

There is a reason for this to be a 5-star review…because it is suitable for most people. Those who are prone to blemishes may also give this a try to see if you manage to stay as pimple-free as me.
