I’ve been struggling with dehydrated skin ever since I entered my 40s and have tried many moisturizing products, including Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum. As a 100% pure hyaluronic serum, this humectant is supposed to do one simple and yet important task, that is to keep the skin hydrated.
However, I find it puzzling that online reviews of this basic serum can differ so much – from a low 2+ to a high 4+ rating – depending on which giant review portals you visit. Now that I’ve used Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum for over a year, I’m ready to share my thoughts with you.
More about Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum is an USA-made product that is easily available on most established ecommerce sites such as Amazon, Ebay and even Walmart.
Its official website described this serum as being able to “enhance moisture content” and “revitalizes skin’s outer surface layers”.
Here’s the summary of what Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum claims it can achieve:
- Boost moisture
- Skin looks softer and smoother
- Instantly improves fine lines and wrinkles
Wow. I like #3, especially the word “instantly”. If it’s true, it’s going to replace a lot of masks and serums that I own. So, did Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum work on my 40-year old skin? Let’s find out.
What’s Good about Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum?
1. Non-Greasy & Comfortable on the Skin
I apply a liberal amount of about 4 drops on my face and neck, twice daily after washing my face.
Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum has a slight slippery feel making application very easy. When the serum first goes onto the face, it may feel a tad sticky, but only for the first one minute or so. The clear liquid dries up very quickly, leaving behind almost no trace that you’ve had any product on the face.
I’m not sure if it’s a good thing though. One thing for sure, those who hate having stuff on the face (e.g. men) but want basic hydration may appreciate this serum.
2. Skin Gets Hydrated Overtime
For the purpose of this review, I’ve applied the Timeless Hyaluronic Serum without layering it with other moisturizers so that I could observe its effect over a 2 hours duration.
Immediately after application, my face didn’t feel like it has received any hydration boost. Give it say an hour or so, the skin would start to feel less tight and somewhat moisturized – think of how the face is like when you wake up with natural sebum.
Therefore, I think this serum, as with most Hyaluronic serum takes time to grab the water molecules from the surroundings. The face doesn’t feel tight and there’s no greasy afterfeel to deal with.
3. It’s Affordable
Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum is selling at around US$10 for a 30ml bottle, which is cheaper than industry norm. Here’s its latest price on Amazon and Ebay. Do note that some of the listings are for different quantity.
As a quick comparison, the other Hyaluronic product that I’ve reviewed cost about 4 times the price.
4. Possibly Pimple-Safe
I haven’t gotten any pimple breakout from using Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
5. Simple & Sturdy Dropper-style Bottle
The 30ml bottle (one ounce) that I own is a clear glass bottle that is sturdy and comes with a good dropper. It is easy to control the amount and dispense the right quantity. Nothing drips or leaks.
What’s Bad about Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum?
1. Hydration Level is Too Light
The hydration level provided by Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum is very basic. Even after giving it time to draw water from the ambiance, it didn’t feel hydrating enough to feed my dehydrated skin. And my skin remains flaking most of the time. To be fair to Timeless, my flaky skin is likely caused by something else. But I was hoping that Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum could balance my skin’s hydration level.
Although this serum isn’t rich enough for me, it may suit those with normal to oily skin because it is apparent from online reviews that many are loving this serum.
Milestone Skincare Change: At this moment, I’m suspecting that it’s time for me to switch to non-foaming cleansers (due to my age). I will do so soon, when I get hold of one. Right now, I still have an inventory of more than 5 foaming facewash. Many were bought in Japan. Gosh! How?
2. Did not Meet Marketing Claims
Okay, this is subjective. I can only speak from my own experience. With my skin type (dehydrated), none of the 3 marketing claims were met. I didn’t see an instant improvement in my fine lines and wrinkles. Neither did I notice softer and moisturized skin.
To be fair to the company, other skin types may take this product better. I’m giving this serum a lot of benefit of the doubt because the product is carried by Walmart, and the company has been around for 10 years.
3. Pure Concoction?
The name of the product suggests that it is 100% pure. I think it may be a bit misleading as it seems like the “pureness” only referred to one of the ingredients – Sodium Hyaluronate.
In any case, those with sensitive skin would be happy to know that Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum kept its number of ingredients low, at just four. I’ve also noted that this serum is Paraben free.
However, do note that this product contains preservatives (last 2 ingredients). These anti-bacterial and fungi preservatives are approved for use by the FDA if kept within a minimum level. I believe Timeless Skincare’s products meet FDA’s regulation as it is sold at Walmart.
That said, I would probably stick to something with milder ingredients now that my face is no longer producing enough sebum on its own as compared to my younger days.
If you like a light level of hydration that feels non-greasy on the face, you may enjoy using Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
For some reasons, I kept thinking that men would appreciate this serum, especially those who hate putting stuff on their face but want some basic hydration. As for me, it’s unlikely that I’ll repurchase this as I need something richer for my skin type. Rating: 3/5
